Deep Light 1.1.0: wet nights
Deep Light 1.1.0 is out. It is the biggest update since 1.0.0, and the first one I would call a quality release from end to end: every piece of it went through more testing on DX11 and DX12 than any version before it.
If you are on 1.0.8, open the Deep Light panel in the game (ReShade > Add-ons > DBM Deep Light) and click Update now. On older versions, download the zip below and run Install.bat with the game closed. Your settings are kept.
Wet nights
- Reflections (Pro): wet roads and puddles mirror the street lights, the traffic and the sky. Truck paint and windows reflect the world around them.
- Light beams (Pro): headlights, street lights and lamps light up the air, thicker in fog and rain. Your headlights keep their real shape, low beam cut-off included.
- Headlight colours (Pro): Halogen, Xenon, LED or LED Matrix, on the road and in the beams.
- Living water (Pro, DX12): waves that move with the wind, a sun path that glitters, rain ripples and foam along the shore.
Closer to a photo
- Real Life preset: a look tuned against real road photos, with a new daytime sky. I measured it against 1,018 photos: it closes about 38% of the gap between the stock game and a real photograph. The full story is in Inside the lab.
- Contact shadows (Pro): wheels, kerbs, poles and signs sit on the ground.
- Your own presets (Pro): save your look under your own name, switch in one click, and share it as a file.
DX11 and stability
Almost everything now works on DX11 too: the tonemap, sun rays, reflections, light beams, headlight colours and the road, ground, foliage and paint materials. Water, window reflections and frame generation stay DX12-only.
1.1.0 also fixes crashes and freezes on PCs where an overlay or a capture tool runs next to the game, rain flashes under an overcast sky, and the Moon’s dark ring. After a crash, only the effect that was running is paused for the next session, not all of Deep Light.
Two things I know about on DX11 and am working on for 1.2.0 are listed under Known issues next to the download.
The full list is in the changelog. For ETS2 1.61 (Core and Pro) and the 1.62 open beta (Pro).
